Vaginal penetration: everything you need to know about internal pleasure

Often associated with the climax of female sexuality, vaginal penetration is the subject of many preconceived ideas. We take stock.

Vaginal penetration: what is it?

Vaginal penetration, in the most common sense of the term, is the penetration of the vagina by a penis (in the collective imagination). It is the act often compared to sexual intercourse and which marks, again, in the collective unconscious the loss of virginity.

Today, with the discovery of all forms of sexuality, the affirmation of the importance of women's pleasure in sexual relations and the democratization of masturbation, its place is often called into question. For example, instead of talking about loss of virginity, we would prefer to talk about multiple “first times” because sexual intercourse can be extensive caresses as well as oral sex or penetration. We don't prioritize when pleasure is present! So yes, vaginal penetration is cool (even very cool for many people), but there is not only one way to practice it, and it is not an end in itself either.

The different types of vaginal penetration

Vaginal penetration can be done in different ways:

  • With a penis : it seems the most obvious but it is not the only way to (be) penetrated.
  • With your fingers : your own or those of your partner, you also get a lot of pleasure from it and this practice should not be shunned, on the contrary.
  • With a toy : if you want to push the exploration a little further and set out to (re)discover your erogenous zones. To be used alone or in pairs to spice up the antics.

Received ideas about penetration

  • There is a vaginal orgasm : false. In reality, orgasm always comes from stimulation of the clitoris but it can be internal or external. In the event of penetration, it is therefore the internal part which is stimulated. The clitoris is the only organ entirely dedicated to pleasure in women; it has more than 8,000 nerve endings, so there are many ways to stimulate it!
  • It's normal to have pain during intercourse : obviously, this is (very) wrong. Pain during intercourse can be a sign of a gynecological problem to be detected: polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, vaginismus , etc. Do not hesitate to contact your gynecologist to rule out these possibilities. Another cause of pain is insufficient lubrication, do not hesitate to prolong the foreplay and always have the lub at hand. Which brings us to our next misconception.
  • Lack of lubrication means lack of excitement : false. We leave the ego at the door when we decide to do good together. Lubricant is something very useful that will (literally) smoothen relationships. A lack of lubrication absolutely does not mean that the desire is not there, so you relax and take out your tube without complexes. Reread this testimony which gives the real good reasons to use it to be convinced.
  • In the case of penile-vaginal intercourse, the back and forth is enough to have an orgasm : False. In reality, it's not that simple. In reality, we are so far from the old porn scenario where the gentleman penetrates the lady and after 3 minutes she reaches ecstasy. Some women will be able to reach orgasm easily and frequently with only penetration, for others (the majority as evidenced by a study published in the journal Socioaffective Neuroscience & Psychology*), this is not enough. You will have to be a little more creative, test more or less deep positions, try with sex toys, or practice external stimulation at the same time, to achieve the famous mixed orgasm .
The reality for many people is that internal orgasm takes time to find and develop. And then sometimes, even though we spend a lot of energy and methodology, everyone's body types are different and it is quite common not to orgasm. We've already said it's not a goal in itself, if it happens it's cool, otherwise, as long as you have fun with it that's really the most important thing.

If this is a topic that interests you or that you want to “dig deeper”, this research may prove fruitful. This is the case of Sarah, 31, who had never really felt pleasure through vaginal penetration with a partner. She even found herself wondering if it wasn't the lie of the century: can you really get off like this? But not being the fatalistic type, she decided to take matters into her own hands. Neither one nor two, she places an order with the Blush team, and what better way to explore than the Arc de Dame. She does some research to understand the areas to conquer. He had to try it several times, put himself in an atmosphere of total excitement and stimulate the deep spots to finally experience the pleasure during penetration. Small bonus, this solo exploration allowed him to have fun with his partner afterwards. Ultimately, for her, it was more a matter of teaching her brain that this area was also a provider of pleasure. To read Sarah's full testimony, it's here .

The different vaginal pleasure points

  • Zone G : this is the famous point that has caused a lot of ink to flow. According to the latest scientific studies, it does indeed exist, it is even more of an area than a point, and concretely it is a rough mucous membrane located 4-5 cm from the entrance to the vagina.
  • Zone R : it is a pleasure zone located between the anus and the vagina. It stimulates the rectum.
  • Deep spots : these are the deep erogenous zones of the vagina, they are located around the cervix and are stimulated by penetration of a penis or an internal sex toy.
